bollocks

If James Prindle had received a fair trial, if the police had done a competent job and sorted out exactly who assaulted James’ baby sister, if this case were only about the sexual assault of this particular child, none of the weirdness that’s happening now would be occurring.

Stephen has received at least three anonymous phone calls on his unpublished cell phone since the call offering to release James Prindle in return for a half million dollars. All of them come from “unavailable” numbers, and the callers’ voices are electronically disguised. Most (but not all) seem designed to dissuade, threaten, or confuse us.

Our legal researcher in Minnesota received a call from the number “xxx xxx xxxx” from a woman who is apparently close enough to Claiborne Ferguson to say that our researcher’s efforts were “freaking him [Ferguson] out.” Our researcher is loath to suffer fools and hung up on the woman after telling her, “Give him two Prozacs and call back in the morning.”

Today Stephen went to a meeting place suggested by one mysterious caller. “When I see you there,” the caller promised, “I’ll honk.” Stephen was there at the appointed time, but no one honked. Someone wants us chasing our tails.

And then there are the cyber-attacks on our researcher’s computer and on my credit card. We are pretty sure some of our wireless calls are being monitored, too. Someone with technical resources is going to entirely too much trouble for this to have been a fair trial and outcome.

Not all the secret calls are unhelpful. Cracks are beginning to show in our adversaries’ solidarity. We are receiving help from surprising quarters. Not everyone in the moral cesspool which is Memphis is a scumbag. People who know or suspect the truth of James’ innocence are coming forward. Some people of good conscience are distressed by the mockery that was made of justice. They are truly appalled at what is being done to James.

“We know James is innocent, and we know who did it,” said one caller. “We’ll call back.”

Maybe they will. Maybe they won’t. It’s not always easy to discern bankable from bollocks.

Yet we’ve already established enough reliable sources that we’re not flying blind. For example, we have received reliable accounts of the threats Jefferson Sanders is making against Stephen and James. Our source is someone he would not expect.

Sooner or later, more people will talk about what they know. Most people are terrible at keeping secrets. As James’ story becomes more widely known, the temptation to brag about inside knowledge will become irresistible. When the personality flaws of choades like Jefferson Sanders get the best of them, the people they hurt will be only too glad to oblige us.

Sooner or later, the truth will come out.

    Dan, I received this email:
    (Begin quote)

    Hello,

My name is Sal Rodriguez with Solitary Watch (solitarywatch.com); my colleagues and I are working on the issue of the use of solitary confinement against juveniles in the justice system. Annabelle Parker referred me to Mr. Sydebotham for possible help in finding information and possibly contacts on this issue.

    Sal

    (End quote)

I find it a bit unprofessionally written. I did forward it to Stephen’s email. I’ve called and left him a message. If you talk to him before I do, please let him know.

ATTENTION: I did NOT click on the ‘solitary watch’ link just to be on the safe side. I did return an email to the sender stating that I would forward the info.

    Thanks,
    Tonya M.

    Dan & Stephen,

This man’s name appears on the Solitary Watch / About webpage. However, anyone can use that information. I did not use the link provided in the email. I went to their site, independent from the link just to be on the safe side. Here’s their About page:

    http://solitarywatch.com/about/

    Hope this helps.
