February 12th is a significant date for me. It is the first day of the fortnight of the rune Sigel (a sun symbol); it is that point in the cycle of the year that is roughly halfway between the Winter Solstice and the Spring Equinox; the date by which (in most places) it is noticeable to even the most out-of-touch person that the days are finally getting longer.
For me the date also heralds the nearing of the end of the propane heating season, which is a great financial relief to me. It is the beginning of the period in which my solar cells will do a greater part in the generation of electricity, also a financial relief.
It is a harbinger of the fat, easy months of the year. What is not to like or celebrate?
