While I was searching for a photograph of FDR’s portrait in situ, I ran across this vintage portrait plate and bought it. I was surprised by how inexpensive it was—under $20. The low price is, I think, an indication of how unfashionable such an artifact is regarded today. The store owner even mailed it out for about $2.50 more than she charged me for postage.
Anyway, I picked it up at the mailbox yesterday and, lacking anything else more compelling, I thought I’d show it to you in today’s post.
More and more, this house is beginning to look like a time warp to the 1930s and ’40s. I almost feel like a holdout hanging a picture of Uncle Joe in my dacha.
