Since the days have finally begun getting longer, the year seems to be flying by. This time of year, the sun rises at Estrella Vista a few minutes after 8:00 am (accounting for the mountains), and sets around 8:00 pm. Its course through the daytime sky is high in the sky. Most of my daily electrical power now comes from the sun.
The spring equinox—the halfway point between the winter and summer solstices—happens tonight on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at 11:30 pm central time.
This seems really stunning to me. I suppose I never tire of this daily process (nor take it for granted) because there are so many personal benefits to it. Living as I do on a very restricted budget, I am reminded of it almost every single day.
This is also one of two days a year when I am reminded of the importance of balance to all living things. Balance helps prevent humans and animals from falling over when walking or standing still. Balance is the result of a number of body systems working together: the eyes, ears, and the body’s sense of where it is in space.
The equinox is a time to remember that balance is more than a physical phenomenon, but an ideal that encompasses every aspect of life.
